I like the idea that anybody can request or offer a talk. Maybe this should
be on a separate wiki page so newby people don't get the wrong idea. The
main wiki page could say "talks to be announced" with a link to the place to
go add ideas.
We could set a limit, 5 talks max per event. We could vote for the talks on
the planning list. We could ask for at least the main bullet points of the
talk in order to vote.
I think a limiting and voting process gives the talks more (perceived)
value. You have to put in a bit of effort or you don't get a chance to talk.
We should still have the open mic session. We should still encourage the
question sessions.
but, maybe the most relevant thing..
We need to work on getting good quality talks.. have some consensus on the
style of talks we want, encourage people to talk on these topics, "hunt
around" for good ideas for talks.
